Iftar in DIFC, Dubai

After roughly thirteen hours without food or water, the worst thing you can do is sit down to a kilo of ribeye straight away. The order that works at Jospereno is simple: something warm and light first, water and a fresh juice while the charcoal does its work, then the board. There is no set iftar menu here. The full Spanish charcoal-fired menu runs every day of Ramadan, all of it 100% halal, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM, with last orders in the kitchen at 12:30 AM. Nothing to arrange in advance, nothing to pay upfront. You walk in.

Start light: soup, bread and something cold

Both soups are AED 25 and both arrive fast, which matters at sunset when everyone at the table has been fasting since before dawn. The Velvet Onion Soup comes with thyme, garlic croutons and gratinéed cheese on top. The Wild Mushroom Soup is a wild mushroom cream with crunchy garlic croutons. Either one settles the stomach before the charcoal arrives.

Order a fresh juice at the same time, AED 20 for orange, watermelon, lemon mint or pineapple, and let it sit next to a glass of water rather than drinking a litre in one go. If you want something bigger to share while you wait, the Burrata in the Spotlight is AED 69 and the Fire Wings are AED 39. Both rice boards land with fresh bread, so you do not need to order more.

To be straight with you: there is no dates-and-laban opening course on our menu. Most people break the fast with dates wherever they are at maghrib and come to us for the meal that follows. If that is you, you will not be waiting long for the first hot thing to hit the table.

Then the board, which is the whole point

All six sharing boards are AED 199 and all six are built strictly for two. For an iftar table, the two rice boards make the most sense, because the smoked rice is unlimited and it is the part of the meal that actually fills you after a long fast:

• The Ribeye & Rice Board · a full kilo of charcoal ribeye, unlimited smoked rice, fresh bread, and the biggest bone marrow in Dubai.
• The Short Rib & Rice Board · a full kilo of slow-smoked short ribs, unlimited smoked rice, fresh bread, same bone marrow.
• The Ribeye Board · a full kilo of ribeye with unlimited bone marrow, for the people who came for meat and marrow.
• The Lamb Chops Board · six lamb chops, a full kilo, unlimited bone marrow.
• The Smokehouse Board · 850 g of smoked brisket, short ribs and ribeye with unlimited fries.
• The Burger Board · three charcoal burgers, wings two ways, unlimited fries. The one to order when the table includes teenagers.

The rule is one board per two guests, and every extra guest beyond that is an AED 59 seat. So three of you is one board plus one seat, four of you is simply two boards, five is two boards plus one seat. No deposit, nothing to lock in weeks ahead. If you are eating alone, skip the boards and go to the charcoal grill instead: premium cuts start at AED 99 (New York Striploin, Jospereno Lamb Chops), the Prime Ribeye is AED 129, and every steak comes with fries and house salad already on the plate.

Dessert, and the reason to come back after taraweeh

Two desserts, both AED 39, both worth leaving room for. The San Sebastian Cheesecake is our award-winner. Burnt Basque style, caramelised outside, molten in the middle. The Chocolate Tornado is a warm chocolate sponge with a liquid centre and vanilla ice cream.

Plenty of people in DIFC split Ramadan dinner into two visits: break the fast quickly near the office, then come to us at 21:00 or 22:30 after prayers for the board, dessert and a Turkish coffee. The kitchen is still firing until 12:30 AM and the doors stay open until 1:00 AM, every single day. You do not need to tell us you are coming.

A full iftar order for two, priced

For comparison, a seat at a DIFC iftar set menu typically runs somewhere between AED 139 and AED 299 per person, for a fixed sitting you have to lock in weeks ahead. Here, that same total feeds two people, the rice keeps coming, and you can arrive at sunset or close to midnight.

Group iftar in DIFC usually comes with conditions attached: a fixed set menu at a per-person price, a minimum spend before anyone will hold a bigger table, and confirmation weeks in advance. By the middle of Ramadan most of the large tables in the area are already spoken for. Jospereno works differently. No minimum spend, no lead time, no deposit, no set menu. We are walk-in only, every day of Ramadan, and a group of eight is welcome the same way a couple is.

How to feed a bigger table

The unit here is the board, not the head. Every sharing board is AED 199 and is built strictly for two. Four of the six are a full kilo of Spanish charcoal-fired meat, ribeye, short rib, or six lamb chops, with unlimited smoked rice or unlimited bone marrow depending on the board. The Smokehouse Board is 850 g of smoked brisket, short ribs and ribeye with unlimited fries, and the Burger Board is three charcoal burgers and wings two ways with unlimited fries. To grow the table, you add boards. If your group is an odd number, an extra guest joins an existing board for AED 59 per seat.

Those totals cover the boards themselves. Premium cuts start at AED 99 and come with fries and house salad, so anyone at the table who would rather have their own steak can order one alongside the boards. Everything is 100% halal.

For DIFC office teams

Private-sector working hours are cut by two hours a day during Ramadan, so DIFC empties out in the early afternoon and there is a long, awkward gap between the end of the working day and maghrib. Jospereno opens at 11:00 AM, which means the team can come straight from the office, sit down, and be at the table well before sunset rather than driving between full restaurants.

• Mix the boards across the table, one Ribeye & Rice Board, one Smokehouse Board, one Burger Board, so the group is not eating the same thing six times over.
• The Ribeye & Rice and Short Rib & Rice boards come with unlimited smoked rice and the biggest bone marrow in Dubai, which is the easiest way to keep a big table fed without stacking up the bill.
• There are no fixed seating slots, so colleagues who finish work late can join partway through.

For families

Boards are made to be pulled apart and shared, which suits a family table better than individual plates. A family of four is two boards; a family of six is three. If grandparents or cousins arrive late, add a seat at AED 59 and pull up a chair. Because nothing runs on a fixed seating window, children can eat at their own pace and no one is watching the clock.

The busiest moment, and how to avoid it

Everyone in Dubai breaks their fast at the same minute. Across Ramadan 2027, maghrib in Dubai falls at roughly 6:10 to 6:30 PM, shifting a couple of minutes each day, and the ten minutes either side of it are the busiest of the night. That is true here and everywhere else in DIFC. For a group of six or more, two windows are noticeably calmer:

• Before: arrive from about 5:15 to 5:45 PM, settle in, get the boards ordered and be ready when the call comes.
• After: come at 8:00 PM or later, or after taraweeh. The kitchen takes last orders at 12:30 AM and we close at 1:00 AM, so a late group table is genuinely possible, not a favour.

A large group arriving exactly at sunset may wait a few minutes for a table big enough. That is the one honest trade-off of walk-in dining, and it is usually shorter than the wait for a confirmed seating somewhere else.

Walk-in welcome, every day

Jospereno is walk-in only, all year, and all through Ramadan. There is nothing to arrange in advance, no deposit and no waiting list. While much of DIFC is full weeks ahead for iftar, here you simply turn up and eat. Come as two or as ten: the six sharing boards are AED 199 for two, and an extra seat is AED 59.

Hours during Ramadan 2027

• Open 11:00 AM to 1:00 AM, every single day · the same hours right through Ramadan (approximately 8 February to 8 March 2027, moon-dependent).
• Kitchen last orders are 12:30 AM, so arrive before then if you want the charcoal grill working.
• Iftar in Dubai falls at maghrib, roughly 6:20 PM to 6:45 PM across the month. Arrive a little before sunset and you will be seated and ready when the call comes.
• Because we stay open until 1:00 AM, the same charcoal menu is there after taraweeh and late into the night.

There is no separate iftar set menu and no buffet. The full Spanish charcoal-fired menu and all six sharing boards are available every night of Ramadan, and everything on the fire is 100% halal.
